Project Description

Client: Oregon Department of Tranportation as a subconsultant to WSP Consulting Engineers

Project: Hood River Bridge Alternatives Study, Hood River, OR

The Port of Hood River tasked ODOT with replacing the outdated Hood River Bridge connecting White Salmon and Hood River over the Columbia River. A new bridge would aid in river navigation, improve pedestrian / bike connections across the river and include a seismic update.  MZLA’s scope was to provide conceptual design recommendations for pedestrian amenities and environment for the bridge, including paving, lighting, seating, and railings.  We provided three options:  an ‘historic’ option based on the current bridge; an I-84 inspired concept based on the ODOT design guidelines and a ‘contemporary’ version inspired by newer bridges and public amenities.
